Privacy Notice
Last updated: 29 August 2026
1. Who we are
Aupairly (“Aupairly”, “we”, “us”) operates an online platform connecting Au Pairs and families in South Africa. This notice explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).
If you have any questions about this notice or how your information is handled, contact us at hello@aupairly.co.za.
2. Information we collect
When you register as an Au Pair, we collect the information you choose to provide as part of building your profile, including:
- Contact details, such as your name, email address and phone number
- Basic details, such as your age, gender and general location
- Childcare experience, qualifications and the age groups you've worked with
- Availability, working preferences, and expected compensation
- Photos you upload for your profile
- Any other information you choose to add to your profile description
We do not collect financial account details, government identification numbers, or health information as part of registration.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and display your Au Pair profile to prospective families
- Operate, maintain and improve the Aupairly platform
- Communicate with you about your account and registration
- Keep a record of your acceptance of our Terms of Use and this Privacy Notice
- Meet our legal and regulatory obligations
4. What is shown publicly and what stays private
Aupairly is built to separate the information that helps a family evaluate a match from information that should stay private. Your first name, age, general location, childcare experience, availability, compensation expectations and photos may be shown to prospective families. Your surname, email address, phone number and precise location are kept private and are never shown on your public profile.
Profile photos are stored in a private location rather than a publicly accessible one, and access to them is limited in the same way as the rest of your private information.
5. Who can see your information
Your public profile information may be shown to families using Aupairly to find Au Pair help, subject to Aupairly's access rules. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share information with service providers who help us operate the platform (such as hosting and email delivery), under agreements that require them to protect it and use it only for the purposes we specify.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including account authentication and access controls that restrict who can view your private details. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards where needed to meet legal, accounting or reporting obligations, or to resolve disputes.
8. Your rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request that it be corrected or deleted, object to certain processing, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa). You can update most of your profile information yourself by logging into your account. For anything else, contact us at hello@aupairly.co.za.
9. Changes to this notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
10. Contact us
If you have questions, requests, or concerns about your personal information, contact us at hello@aupairly.co.za.
